why? this is why...

Today our school day started about 8am. We don't have any required appointments where we have to leave the house today. YAY, it's freezing outside! So, we can take our time and add a little more fun into today's work. Sam had a bit of a rough time getting started with his day and wasn't very motivated to do any writing or coloring. (testing patience before 9am!)

This is why homeschooling is so great. We have tons of fun things to learn and we can make it exciting if we want. We can be loud and creative in our little school room. We can apply scriptures to everything we learn. We can watch the news in the middle of a lesson. We can speed up or slow down as needed. We can apply life to learning at the same time and build stronger relationships with each other. And that, my friends, is what this is all about. We're mending together.

These days, my kids are very interested in dribbling and playing basketball. So, after getting the bright idea to have Sam dribble the number of times as the answers on his math worksheet,  his demeanor and motivation completely changed. After his math was done, he went to the original  assignment (that I was about to lose my patience with) without me even asking and finished it with almost no prodding!

Some days we get great ideas that boost us up and some days we realize we need to just learn from our mistakes and make it better next time.
